In late springtime Lincolnshire turns a brilliant yellow as the many fields of rape seed flower. Across the road, near my studio, a distant farm  and the hedges bordering these bands of intense colour caught my interest. The work is currently in the blocking out stage and I am somewhat wary of working it further lest, as is often the case, its freshness is lost. Still, I cannot allow it to be too ‘precious’ and will get at it when the moment is ripe.
