Nice Ink is a term used to flatter the wearer of a decorative Tattoo. One young visitor at an exhibition of illustrated story works showed an example of this art. I memorised my impression but the result falls short  pf my intention, which was to highlight the modern and historic associations of the term brought together in this exhibition. The painting here is the result of many revisions but the composition is still weak. The foreground is vacant and the tattoo insignificant. It looks destined for the bin. (My painting I mean!)

The works exhibited in the display cabinets included work by Frans Masereel In particular I was captivated by his ‘graphic novel’ of 100 woodcuts titled The City. Within  this series the dropping of propaganda leaflets from the air, which I suggest is a work entirely of his fertile imagination. See this series of woodcuts on the web at
